Katie Dickinson, Boston Personal Trainer - Back Bay personal trainer, Cambridge personal trainer

Who am I?

Hi! My name is Katie and I’m the one who thought calling herself “weird trainer friend” would be a good idea. I’m a Boston/Cambridge-based personal trainer who takes my job and commitment to clients very seriously, but I also seek the funny and weird in basically every other aspect of my life.

I pride myself in creating a comfortable and supportive environment for clients. I have experience both as the trainer and the client (more on that below), so I know that it can be quite vulnerable to step into a more focused exercise routine with a trainer.

Sometimes - but not always - reaching out to someone to say “I need help with this thing that seems like it should be innate and intuitive” can be a real ego gut-punch. Add the unflattering misconceptions about trainers that are floating around the ether….. its no wonder some people are nervous to reach out!

My approach is very education-focused. I want for my clients to know what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how it calls back to their specific goals.

Who I am not:
I’m not a yeller. I don’t use negative commentary as motivation. I won’t use “junk” exercises to make things seem overly complicated. I won’t push you to do any exercises that you absolutely hate (though I may ask you to give them a chance if they’re an important fundamental move)

Certifications and Education

NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)
NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES)
NASM Weight Loss Specialist (WLS)
American Red Cross CPR/AED

I don’t have all the answers (and be skeptical towards anyone who says that they do) - but I try my best to keep up-to date with the ever-progressing science. I’m not afraid of admitting when I don’t know something yet, and I have a brilliant network of trainers, strength coaches, physical therapists, and movement experts that I can tap into to help troubleshoot any issues we face.
